Longines just soft-launched a revised version of its Conquest collection.

The Conquest 2023 forgoes the befuddled design language of current Conquest timepieces, which have a humongous crown and matching crown guards, often coupled with an odd pairing of indices with Arabic numerals at 12 and 6.

Longines gave the new Conquest 2023, smaller, normal-sized crown guards, with a standard-sized screw-down crown. They removed the out-of-place Arabic numerals in favor of applied indices for all hour markers. The hour and minute hands now have a much more attractive classic faceted Dauphine-shaped aesthetic. Even the center second hands look better.

With design cues looking like they came directly from the Submariner and Oyster Perpetual, it may not be the most original look, but at least the result is appealing to those with good taste. This is a great option for someone that wants a Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 or Omega Aqua Terra 41, for a third of the price.

Longines’ Conquest 2023 comes in a 41 mm x 10.9 mm stainless steel case with a sunburst green dial, applied indices, and silvered polished hands. The glass on the front and rear is sapphire crystal, the watch weighs 133.8 grams with the bracelet and is water-resistant to a depth rating of 100 meters.

Though not equipped with an in-house movement like the above-mentioned Rolex and Omega models, the Conquest 2023 (Ref. L3.830.4.02.6) hour, minute, center second hands, and date wheel, are powered by the reliable Swatch-made 3.5Hz automatic caliber L888 that features a monocrystalline silicon balance-spring and a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.
