A highly complicated watch function that audibly strikes the time in hours, quarter hours, or minutes by means of a slide-lever that you pull and release manually on the case flank. Before the light bulb, minute repeaters allowed their owner to listen to the time without the need for light. A minute repeater strikes/chimes the hour, half-hour, quarter-hour, minutes, seconds, or some combination of the two.

Similar to a minute repeater, a decimal repeater strikes the time every ten minutes.
